Our approach
What we do on this website.
We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA as our practical technical target.
Navigation and keyboard
- A skip link that jumps straight to the main content
- Every menu, link, button and form control reachable with the keyboard
- A clearly visible outline on whatever has keyboard focus
- Page regions marked up as header, navigation, main content and footer
Reading and seeing
- Text and background colors chosen for readable contrast
- Text that resizes and reflows on small screens and when zoomed
- Meaningful headings in order, so screen readers can scan the page
- Descriptive text for images that carry information; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
Forms
- A visible label on every field, plus required and optional marked in words
- Errors described in text next to the field, never by color alone
- A summary of errors announced to screen readers after a failed submission
- Large touch targets and mobile-friendly controls
Motion and media
- Animations respect the reduced-motion setting in your operating system
- Background videos are decorative, silent and never autoplay with sound
- Nothing flashes rapidly
